State Budget High Level Information Flow

A State budget process is a complex interaction between sometimes hundreds of agencies to keep the fiscal lifelines strong over time.  In Georgia there are three budget years in play at any given time.  When new staff joins the agency it is nearly impossible to keep all of the factors in focus to understand what is important during a specific time.  Simple questions like "What should I be working on?" could yield different answers depending on who is asked and their area of responsibility.

The budget communication graphic allows users to visualize how information flows between processes, supporting multiple years of data.  It displays the flow of information relative to any given month.  The budget graphic is a great management tool because it aids in keeping work priorities straight.  It's a great training tool because conversations are centered on a common, visual frame of reference - one that the employee can take back to their office and hang on the wall.  It is the most requested printout by new employees.
