Scope Definition
Defining the scope of a project is critical. ScotCro’s success with scope definition relies on our ability to see the big picture and understanding how pieces of the puzzle fit together. We define the boundaries for functional needs, time, resources (labor and funds), and sponsorship. The scope definition deliverable communicates the project boundaries and sets expectations internally and externally.
Some of the questions answered by defining the scope are: What is in and out of the project parameters? What areas of the organization will be affected and what is accomplished having completed the project? What are the functional needs of the (project’s) customer? How many of these functional needs will be met? What method of needs analysis will be used and how will we limit or control scope creep?
Organizations know how to say where they want to be. But without a properly defined scope it’s difficult to manage the path that takes you there.
